Silvia is the second born in her family. Her mother is a stay-at-home mother and her father herds cattle to sustain his family.
When Silvia started to wean at six months, her mother noticed that she had difficulty passing stool. After visits to different hospitals, Silvia was diagnosed with an anorectal malformation and a recto faucet fistula, birth conditions where parts of the body did not form properly.
She is recommended to undergo a posterior sagittal anorectoplasy surgery, where the surgeons will correct the malformations. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, will perform the surgery on February 27th and is asking for $743 for the procedure.
Silvia’s mother says, “I’m very much worried about Silvia’s health. I hope she gets treatment so that she can be like the other children and live a full normal life.”
