Sarun was attacked three years ago with corrosive acid. He lost an eye and suffered severe burns on his face, neck, and upper body in the attack.
Sarun has been receiving medical care at CSC and he is healing well. However, recently scar tissue has grown to block one of his ear drums. He can now only hear out of one ear.
Doctors at CSC want to perform a $300 reconstructive surgery to remove the blocking tissue, which will enable Sarun to hear out of both ears.
Sarun and his wife recently had a baby daughter. He is proud of the challenges he’s overcome, telling his Watsi coordinator, “I am happy to share my story.” Let’s help Sarun continue on his path to healing and happiness!

Sarun received reconstructive surgery to repair damage to his ear after an acid attack.
The doctors at our Cambodian partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, were able to remove the scar tissue that blocked Sarun’s ear drum and reconstruct his ear. As a result, Sarun’s hearing has greatly improved.
Since the attack three years ago, Sarun has endured many surgeries in an attempt to reconstruct his life, but he maintains incredible perspective. He says he feels lucky every day to be alive, and is feeling “very happy.”
