Khoeur is a 16-year-old toy factory worker from Thailand. He has two sisters and two brothers, and he enjoys playing soccer, watching TV, and listening to pop songs in his free time.
Khoeur has been diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma (a tumor of the bone and joints) in his left knee. He went to both a military hospital in his province and a Khmer traditional healer for treatment, but unfortunately, his symptoms did not improve. On February 27, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), will perform an above-knee amputation to completely remove the cancerous tumor and restore Khoeur to a functional life. CSC is requesting $446 to fund the treatment.

Khoeur underwent a leg amputation.
Khoeur’s treatment went well. Following the procedure, he was given pain medication, and he was provided wound care. He had two weeks of physiotherapy at CSC before being discharged. His wound has healed nicely, and he does not experience pain.
A biopsy taken on the day of surgery revealed high grade osteogenic sarcoma. Khoeur is scheduled for a CT scan, and his treatments will continue at CSC.
Khoeur says, “I hope to continue to feel better.”
