Duke is an eight-year-old boy who lives with his siblings and parents in Kenya. His parents are farmers who grow enough food to feed the family.
When Duke was born, he was diagnosed with hypospadias, a congenital disorder of the urethra where the urinary opening is not at the usual location. If left untreated, Duke is at risk of having fertility problems and becoming increasingly prone to urinary tract infections.
Duke is scheduled to undergo surgery to correct his condition on June 22. Since Duke’s parents are unable to raise the funds needed for his surgical care, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $700 to cover the total cost of his procedure.
“I dream of becoming a surgeon one day to help others. Please help me get treated,” says Duke.
