Samiri is a 10-year-old boy from Tanzania. His parents abandoned him and his younger sibling, leaving them to be cared for by their grandparents. Samiri’s grandmother is a cultural artist specializing in selling Shanga decorations, but her income is insufficient to take care of all of their family’s needs.
Throughout his childhood, Samiri has contended with the affects of a clubfoot, which make it difficult for him to wear shoes or to walk. Because of financial limitations, Samiri’s grandmother was not able to seek out help for him, until a new neighbor told her about our medical partner.
Samiri’s family traveled to visit our medical partner’s care center, Kafika House, where on December 22nd, the team will begin Samiri’s clubfoot treatment. Our partner African Mission Healthcare is requesting $935 to fund Samiri’s clubfoot repair. After treatment, he’ll be able to grow up active and able to walk easily.
Samiri’s grandmother says: “I hope my grandchild gets the right treatment and his leg won’t be a problem as he grows older.”
