Meet Hum, an 83-year-old man living in Cambodia with his wife, six children and 12 grandchildren. He likes listening to the monks praying and, before his eyesight weakened, enjoyed reading a wide variety of books.
“Hum has a hypermature cataract in his left eye which makes his eyesight very blurry,” explains our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre. “He can’t see anything very clearly and can’t help his daughter do work at home. He can’t read letters anymore and he is unable to look after his grandchildren.”
For $150, Hum will receive cataract surgery in his left eye which will give him clear vision. Not only will this surgery sharpen his eyesight and improve his daily life, Hum is also excited that it will allow him to travel.
“I want to go visit my daughter who lives far away because I haven’t seen her in a long time,” he says. Let’s help Hum see clearly and spend more time with his family!
