Khorn is a 64-year-old tamarind farmer who spends her free time visiting her local pagoda with her sister, who lives in the same village.
About two years ago, Khorn developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, thus is unable to travel on her own.
When Khorn learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for an hour and a half to seek treatment. On March 9th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery to implant an intraocular lens in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $253 procedure.
Khorn said, “I hope after surgery I can see better and take better care of myself.”

Khorn underwent cataract surgery.
Khorn’s cataract surgery was successful, and she will be able to see clearly again for the first time in almost two years. During her recovery, Khorn will apply eye drops and rest at home as her eye will be sensitive for a short time while she heals. Still, when Khorn peeked through the eye patch, she noticed her vision had already improved! Her sister is happy that Khorn can live with more freedom now that she can see better. Khorn looks forward to frequent visits to the local pagoda to serve the monks.
She shared: “I am very happy I can continue my work, do housework, and go everywhere by myself and not worry about my eye anymore. Thank you to everyone who helped me have better eyesight.”
