Mukuru is a small-scale farmer from Uganda. She became a widow in 2015 and has eight children; six of them are married and self-employed, the other two have jobs as a teacher and nurse.
Mukuru has been experiencing a painful backache associated with a mass on her right shoulder for two years. She traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On June 16, surgeons will remove the mass. Now, Mukuru needs help to raise $206 to fund this procedure.
“I will be glad when I no longer have this swelling which some people have said might be cancerous. I will be blessed when I am successfully treated and I can continue farming,” shared Mukuru.

Mukuru underwent a surgery to remove a mass from her shoulder.
Mukuru underwent a successful excision treatment to remove a mass from her right shoulder. She is now free from disfigurement, pain, and will be able to use her arm. Previously, she had been unable to use it. Once fully recovered, her quality of life will significantly improve.
Mukuru shared, “I appreciate you without end because I had no idea how I would cover the cost of this surgery. I hope to continue with farming once I have fully recovered.”
