Htee is a 10-year-old girl from Burma. She lives with her family in a refugee camp in Mae Hong Son province, Thailand. Htee and her two siblings were born and raised in the camp. Her parents met and married there after relocating in 2006 due to conflicts between armed groups in their village. Htee’s mother is a homemaker, while her father works as a day laborer. She is currently enrolled in the camp school and is in Grade 5. Additionally, Htee's four cousins live with the family and also attend school. In her free time, Htee enjoys playing with her brother and friends. For two days, Htee has been experiencing troubling symptoms, including severe pain at right lower part of abdominal, high fever, vomiting and lethargy. She is currently admitted at Mae Sariang Hospital, where she was diagnosed with appendicitis. She needs urgent surgery to prevent her condition from getting worse. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is helping Htee receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo an appendectomy, a surgery to remove the appendix when it becomes infected, on April 20th, at Mae Sariang Hospital. This procedure will cost $1500, and Htee and her family need your support. Htee’s father said, “My daughter is an active child. She loves to go to school and never missed attendance. Now she is in severe pain, and I hope that she gets better after treatment.”

Kheang is a 50-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. He is married and lives in Kandal Province with his wife, who is also a rice farmer. They have one daughter, who is married and has a son. In his free time, he enjoys caring for his ducks and chickens. Four months ago, Kheang had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the eardrum, in his left ear to perforate. For this reason, Kheang experiences recurring ear discharge, mild ear pain, headaches, and hearing loss in his left ear. The chronic ear infection and perforated eardrum have affected his ability to hear clearly and caused recurring discomfort and discharge. These symptoms have made it more difficult for him to communicate with others, and carry out his daily activities comfortably. Kheang traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On August 10th, he will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in his left ear, where surgeons will close the perforation. Kheang is able to contribute $100 towards the cost of his treatment, and needs help raising $263 more to fund the procedure. He said, “I hope the surgery will repair my eardrum, prevent the recurring infections and ear discharge, reduce my discomfort, and improve my hearing so I can return to my daily activities more comfortably.”

Seanglong is a 19-year-old young man from Cambodia. He lives alone in Phnom Penh, where he works as a mechanic. His family lives in Kampong Cham Province. He is the second of four siblings. His older brother is a third-year university student, while his two younger siblings are still in high school. His parents are rice farmers and continue to support the family from their hometown. In his free time, he enjoys listening to music and playing games. On May 6, 2026, Seanglong sustained an injury to his right lower leg after accidentally falling onto broken glass while working in a garage. The wound later became infected and required further medical care. After the injury, he initially received treatment at a hospital near his home, where the wound was cleaned and sutured, and he was then sent home. The following day, he sought further treatment from a nearby doctor and received home care for three days. However, the wound progressively worsened, becoming necrotic and developing discharge. He now experiences pain, infection, and necrosis, making it difficult for him to move and continue his work as a mechanic. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), is helping Seanglong receive treatment. On May 11th, surgeons at CSC will perform a debridement procedure to help remove pressure and infected tissue, control the infection, and support proper healing of the right leg. Now, Seanglong needs help to fund this $417 procedure. Seanglong said, “After the surgery, I hope that my leg will heal completely so I can return to my job as a mechanic and continue helping my family.”
