Chou is a 20 year old farmer from Cambodia, married without children. Chou enjoys cooking and growing plants around her home.
Unfortunately, Chou began having ear discharge and hearing loss from both ears when she was 10 years old. This caused her tympanic membrane to perforate on both sides. Chou traveled three hours to CSC with her oldest sister to properly ascertain the cause of her ear-related pain. Chou shares, “I am unhappy because I can’t hear anything and it is difficult to communicate with other people.”
$399 in funds will allow Chou to receive the medical attention she needs. After a myringoplasty surgery on each side, the ear discharge will stop, and her hearing can improve. After small incisions on the tympanic membrane, epithelial grafts will cover the perforations, and antibiotics will be packed in both ears.
With a successful surgery, Chou will be able to easily join in conversations again. Chou’s sister says, “I hope my sister’s ear discharge stops and that she returns to good hearing and health.”
