Saroem is 22 years old and the youngest of four siblings from Cambodia. Her siblings work as factory workers, and the family lives together as a close-knit household. Saroem was born with a congenital condition called neurofibromatosis, a condition that causes usually noncancerous tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body. In 2017, with the support of Watsi, she underwent surgery to remove the mass on her hand, as it was affecting her ability to write, eat, and complete everyday tasks. For many years now, Saroem has had a mass on the right side of her upper jaw. The condition has persisted throughout her life without causing significant pain, but it has gradually affected her facial appearance and self-confidence. She often feels shy and self-conscious in social and professional settings due to the visible swelling. Saroem is scheduled for surgery on June 15th. Surgeons will perform a right facelift and mass removal to improve facial symmetry, reduce the mass, and help restore her confidence. Her family can contribute $50, but needs help raising $791 to fund her treatment and care. Saroem said, “For many years, I have been self-conscious because of the swelling on my face. I hope this surgery will improve my appearance and allow me to feel more comfortable and confident in my daily life.”

Menghab is a 24-year-old farmer from Cambodia. He lives in Kandal Province with his parents. He is the middle child of three siblings; his brother works in a factory, and his sister is in Grade 12. Before his injury, he worked as a rice farmer and enjoyed playing football with friends in his village. Menghab sustained a traumatic brain injury after being struck by a car while standing on the roadside. Following prolonged immobility during recovery, he developed severe pressure sores in different parts of his body. The condition has caused large, painful wounds that make it difficult for him to move, sit comfortably, and participate in daily activities. His recovery has been slow and complicated by repeated hospital admissions and ongoing weakness. Menghab learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), and sought treatment. On June 3rd, surgeons at CSC will perform a skin graft procedure to help close the chronic wounds, promote healing, reduce pain, and prevent further infection, supporting his recovery and rehabilitation toward greater independence. Now, Menghab needs help to fund this $583 procedure. Menghab's father said, “My greatest hope is that my son will continue to recover, regain his strength, and become more independent through treatment and rehabilitation.”

Run is 74 years old and lives with her husband in a small neighborhood of Kandal province, Cambodia. Their family is mainly supported by their second child, who works as a laborer, while their first child is married and lives nearby. In her free time, Run enjoys listening to the news and monks’ sermons on the radio. Two months ago, Run slipped and fell while walking around her house, resulting in a fracture of her hip bone. She experiences severe hip pain and has great difficulty walking, standing, and performing daily activities. Initially, she went to a hospital, where an X-ray confirmed the fracture, and surgery was recommended. However, she could not afford the treatment. She then sought traditional Khmer medicine, but her condition did not improve. On February 4th, with the help of our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, Run will undergo a hip hemi-arthroplasty procedure on her left hip. The surgery will help relieve her pain, improve her ability to walk and stand, and allow her to perform daily activities more comfortably. She is able to contribute $100 and needs support for the remaining $612. This cost will cover surgery, medications, post-operative care, and rehabilitation. Run said, “I hope that after surgery I will be able to walk normally again, live without pain, and take care of myself independently.”
