Victorina lives with her husband in Guatemala. She has five children.
Victorina worked as a maid for many years but recently had to stop as result of her worsening eyesight and the side effects from her diabetes. Victorina has been diagnosed with cataracts, and she requires surgery to remove them. Without surgical intervention, Victorina is at risk of going blind.
Victorina is scheduled for surgery on March 4, but she needs help to pay for her surgery. $1,500 will cover the costs of the surgery and post-operative care. It will also pay for Victorina’s travel to and from the hospital. In addition, an ophthalmologist (eye specialist) will evaluate and monitor Victorina’s condition.
Victorina is expected to make a full recovery. Her improved vision will allow her to go back to work and also give her a chance to watch her grandchildren grow up.
Victorina shares with our medical partner, Wuqu’ Kawoq, “It has been difficult but I am grateful to the association for the opportunity that you are giving me, because then I will be able to see better and keep supporting my husband. God bless and protect you.”
