Marl Yas is three years old. She has two sisters, and she enjoys staying home with her parents.
Marl Yas was born with pseudarthrosis of the tibia, a rare condition that causes a deformity in her bone Eventually, this deformity leads to a fracture that does not reunite. Even though Marl Yas received treatment from a nearby hospital, her symptoms did not improve. She was in pain, and she had difficulty walking.
When her parents learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), they traveled for three hours to seek treatment. On November 1, CSC surgeons performed an open reduction internal fixation procedure and bone graft to heal her fracture.
After recovery, Marl Yas should be able to walk comfortably. Now, her family needs help to fund this $411 procedure.

Marl Yas’s treatment went very well. Doctors surgically cut her tibia bone in order to remove all of the abnormal sections of the bone. Then, a segment of the fibula bone was cut and transferred to her tibia bone to aid in the realignment of her bones. After her procedure, Marl Yas had one week of physiotherapy. Her wound has healed, and she does not experience pain. Marl Yas is now able to walk and play with her sisters.
Marl Yas’s mother says, “I’m so happy to see my daughter walk again. Thanks to all of the surgeons and nurses for the help.”
