Gilbert is a little boy from a loving family. As soon as Gilbert was able to stand, his parents noticed that his right foot was fixed in a pointed position. They weren’t sure what to do, and they worried about all sorts of things that may have caused it.
While Gilbert and his mother were waiting in line for an appointment at the local clinic, someone recommended she take him to be seen at CURE’s hospital. Gilbert’s mother decided there was no time to wait. She brought her son to CURE immediately, where he was diagnosed with drop foot, a condition caused when tendons are too tight or too short to allow for normal mobility.
The surgery Gilbert needs to repair his foot costs $500. Surgeons at CURE are confident that with treatment, Gilbert will one day learn how to walk normally. It would likely take Gilbert’s parents more than a year to make enough money to pay for the procedure. We hope to raise the money needed to completely cover the cost of Gilbert’s treatment at CURE and enable him to live a healthy life.
