Pov is a determined 17-year-old student from Cambodia. He lives in Kandal Province with his parents and is the youngest of five siblings, all of whom are married. His father sells drinking water, and his mother stays at home to care for the family and manage household tasks. He is currently studying in Grade 11 and enjoys physics. He dreams of becoming a doctor in the future. His favorite meals are soups, especially those with lots of vegetables, and he enjoys playing football with his friends in his free time. Eleven months ago, Pov sustained electrical burns to both hands in an accident. As the wounds healed, severe scar contractures developed, affecting the right first finger webspace and the left fifth finger. The scar contractures have tightened the skin and limited movement in both hands. This makes it difficult for him to grasp objects, hold items properly, and write his school lessons. He also feels self-conscious about the appearance of his scars and often hides them by wearing long sleeves. Pov sought treatment with our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC). On May 21st, surgeons at CSC will perform a burn contracture release surgery to improve hand movement and restore better function. This treatment will help him write more easily, hold objects comfortably, and regain confidence in using his hands for daily activities and school. His family can contribute $25, but needs help raising $627 more to fund his procedure and care. Pov said, “I hope this surgery will help my hands move normally again so I can write my lessons easily, hold things without difficulty, and feel confident without needing to hide my scars anymore.”

Angelita is a 51-year-old woman from the Philippines. She spends most of her time caring for her grandchild, which brings her joy. Her eldest daughter works at a golf facility, while her second-youngest daughter works as a virtual assistant. Her husband takes on occasional construction jobs but cannot work regularly due to his history of tuberculosis. Seventeen years ago, Angelita began to experience troubling symptoms, including difficulty eating and regular discomfort when sleeping. She was diagnosed with multinodular non-toxic goiter. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse. Fortunately, our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), is helping Angelita receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on October 30th, where surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. A portion of the cost of her treatment is being supported by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and WSFP is asking for help raising the remaining $873 to cover the cost of Angelita's procedure and care. Mi is a 67-year-old moto repairman from Cambodia. He is married and lives with his wife, who takes care of the household. They have six children, all of whom are married and live in a nearby village. They visit their parents from time to time. In his free time, Mi enjoys looking after his cows and chickens. In December 2025, Mi was involved in a traffic accident between two motorbikes, which left him with a fracture in his left hip. He initially sought traditional treatment for six months, but his condition did not improve. Since then, he has continued to experience hip pain and difficulty walking. He now relies on crutches for support and struggles to put weight on his left leg. Because of the injury, he has been unable to return to his moto repair work and earn a living. After a friend recommended Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), Mi decided to seek further treatment. On November 2nd, doctors will perform a total hip replacement (THR) on his left hip to relieve his pain and improve his mobility. Mi and his family can contribute $50 and need support for the remaining $1,450. Mi said, “I hope the surgery will help me walk normally again without needing crutches. I have been unable to work since the accident, and I want to recover so I can return to fixing tires and support my family.”
