Cho is a 45-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her family, and she works as a day laborer selling dishes. Unfortunately, her husband recently broke his knee and is unable to work; Cho therefore supplies the only source of household income.
Two years ago, Cho began to experience severe abdominal pain. Upon visiting the hospital, doctors diagnosed Cho with gallstones and informed her that she would need surgery. Unable to afford the advised treatment, Cho was sent home with oral medications. Her symptoms of severe abdominal pain, fatigue, and stress have now reappeared. Without immediate treatment, Cho could suffer severe medical complications.
Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to cover the cost of Cho’s biliary obstruction repair. The procedure is scheduled to take place on May 31 and, once completed, will hopefully greatly improve Cho’s quality of life.
“I feel sad that I cannot work and support my family,” says Cho.
