Reaksa is a 24-year-old electrician from Cambodia. He lives with his wife and his parents in Siem Reap province. His wife works as a cook in a hotel, and they had their first child nine months ago. Reaksa was an electrician, but has not worked since his accident. His father repairs electronics, and his mom sells vegetables in the market to help support the family. During his free time, he enjoys planting vegetables in the garden, and spending time with his son.
Reaksa was in a traffic accident in May 2025. Since then, he has been unable to use his hand and sometimes feels pain in his wrist. He sought treatment at a clinic near his home, where the doctor prescribed some medicine, but his condition has not improved, and the clinic suggested he travel six hours to Phnom Penh for further treatment. He needs to undergo a tendon and nerve repair procedure to help regain strength and mobility.
Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is helping Reaksa receive treatment. He is scheduled to undergo the tendon and nerve repair procedure on August 6th. He is able to contribute $100 but needs help to raise the remaining $601 to cover the cost of his procedure and care.
Reaksa shared, “I hope I can have surgery to repair my arm and hand so I will be able to go back to work or find a new job to help my family.”

Reaksa and his mother traveled to the Children’s Surgical Centre for a consultation, based on information his wife found on social media about the availability of specialty surgery for patients with a disability like his. Doctors confirmed his eligibility for surgery, and he had surgery the following day. After his initial recovery, he met with the physiotherapy team to plan post-operative rehabilitation, and then returned home to his wife and baby. Without this treatment, he would have continued to face difficulty using his hand, limiting his ability to earn a living and support his young family. Reaksa hopes to regain strength, movement, and control in his hand. Although rehabilitation may take many months, he is optimistic that he will return to work as an electrician or find another job to support his family.
Reaksa said, “I am happy I had the surgery. I know my hand will improve, and I will soon be able to return to work to support my family. The doctors and nurses were kind and took the time to explain everything to me. I am grateful for the care.”
