Juliet is a 43-year-old small-scale farmer from Uganda. She has been married to her husband for 20 years, and he works as a mason. She has four living children; tragically, one of her children passed away after delivery. All of her other children attend school, with the youngest in second grade. Juliet completed high school, but could not fund any further education. Juliet grows food crops mainly for home consumption and sells the surplus to generate income for her family. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. Juliet is currently expecting her sixth child. Her doctors have recommended that she deliver via Caesarean section because of her three previous C-section scars. Otherwise, she could experience complications like uterine rupture that could be fatal. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is helping Juliet undergo a C-Section on March 9th to ensure her safety and her baby's. Now, she needs help raising $252 to fund her procedure and care. Juliet shared, "I am grateful for your support and I hope to have a successful delivery."

Luz is a sweet baby from Bolivia, where she lives with her parents and two older brothers in a small mountain village. Her parents work as farmers to support their family. Luz, in addition to being diagnosed with Down Syndrome, was born with a ventricular septal defect, a heart condition where a hole exists between the two lower chambers of her heart. As a result, blood leaks through the hole without passing through her lungs to obtain oxygen, leaving her weak and short of breath. Fortunately, our medical partner, Haiti Cardiac Alliance who is expanding their work in Bolivia, is helping Luz receive treatment. On January 19th, Luz will undergo surgery where doctors will sew a patch over the hole, allowing for blood to flow completely through her heart and reach her lungs, obtaining oxygen and, ultimately, allowing her to grow as a healthy baby girl. Luz's family needs help raising $1,500 to fund her procedure and care. From Luz's mother: "Our family is all praying that after the surgery our daughter will be stronger and healthier."

Sak has six children and one grandson. A few months ago, she moved in with one of her daughters, her daughter's husband, and grandson. Her daughter works in a clothing factory to support their family. Her favorite thing to do is spend time with her family, especially her grandson. Last December, Sak was doing housework when she fell and broke her hip. Since then, she has not been able to walk and is in pain. She has trouble sleeping and is no longer able to care for her grandson. When Sak and her family learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, they traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On January 29th, surgeons at CSC will perform a hip hemi-arthroplasty procedure on her right hip. This will help her to regain mobility. Sak and her family need help raising $544 to fund her procedure and care. Sak said, "I hope after surgery I can walk again."
