Meet Davis, an active 12-year-old boy from Uganda. Davis was helping his family collect firewood, when he fell out of a tree and fractured his leg. He will have to undergo three weeks of “skin traction” with weights to help stretch his contracted muscles so his leg can be set properly. After the traction, his leg will be set in a cast for several weeks so the fracture can heal.
Davis is in grade five and enjoys playing football and other games with his classmates. His favorite subjects are mathematics and English and he plans to study hard because his goal is to be a doctor someday. He likes helping people. At home, Davis helps his parents, Gershom and Jennifer, by collecting firewood, fetching water, and doing the dishes after meals. For fun, he likes to dance to the music on the radio. His father drives a motorcycle taxi for a living and his mother farms and weaves mats.
“Thank you very much for helping Davis,” His father says, “We have five children so we don’t have a lot of money. We are very grateful and appreciative.”
