Melestina is a 30-year-old farmer and mother from Malawi. Melestina lives with her husband, Maganizu. Together, Melestina and Maganizu have three small children. Melestina works hard on her farm and in her home, and she also has a small business selling soaps. When she has downtime, Melestina likes to chat with her husband and her kids.
Since December 2016, Melestina has been dealing with the pain and discomfort of an epigastric hernia, which is an extremely painful type of hernia present in the walls of the abdomen.
This problem makes it hard for Melestina to help on the farm, work, and care for her family. Because the family does not have much money, they were pleased to learn about the possibility of free treatment. Our medical partner, World Altering Medicine, is requesting $334 to fund hernia repair surgery. Her treatment is scheduled for May 9.
Melestina is looking forward to her operation and is ready to get back to her children and to her home.
