Sifa is a 28-year-old woman who enjoys growing food for her family, taking care of her home, and spending time with her children. Three of her seven children are in school, and she and her husband, Isiah, are saving money to send the three older ones to school. Isiah works as a carpenter, traveling to various villages to build windows, shutters, and furniture when he can find work.
For approximately eight years, Sifa has had an uncomfortable gynecological condition. Sifa’s condition causes her great pain, so she can no longer work in the fields to grow food or even pick up her children. The surgeons at our medical partner’s care center, Bwindi Community Hospital, have recommended a total hysterectomy—a $321 surgery that she cannot afford without help.
Fortunately, with the help of our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, Sifa is scheduled to receive her treatment on October 29. After her surgery, Sifa is looking forward to being able to return to work. Sifa says, “I would like to send a vote of thanks to all the donors for helping me have a better life. I wish them God’s blessings.”
