Horn is a 16-year-old student from Kampong Cham in Cambodia, the eldest of three siblings. His younger sister is nine years old in second grade, and his younger sister is four months old. His parents support the family by working in the nearby rice paddies. Horn is in his seventh grade and enjoys his Khmer class. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer with his friends, and eating stir fried pork with rice and fried eggs.
Two years ago, Horn fell while playing football with his left arm outstretched, which caused a fracture in his left arm. He went to a private clinic near his home, where doctors implanted metalwork to stabilize his fracture. The fracture has healed, but the metal in his arm causes discomfort and makes it difficult to use his hand for daily tasks.
Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, can help. On September 3rd, Horn will undergo a surgical hardware removal procedure, which will cost $378. This procedure will allow him to use his arm and hand more comfortably.
He shared, “I wish to have surgery so I can use my hand more easily, and not worry about it anymore.”
