Glorious is a middle-aged woman and a mother of seven. Her firstborn is now 32 years old and is already married. Her youngest is 13 years old and in primary school class five. Sanyu shared that she wasn’t able to go school herself. She is a small scale farmer along with her husband. They own a two-room semi-permanent house for their family’s shelter.
For three years, Glorious has been experiencing bleeding, lower abdominal pain and dyspareunia. Due to the condition, she is not able to do strenuous work on the farm and her marriage is also impacted. She has been diagnosed with chronic pelvic inflammatory disease by the medical team at Rushoroza Hospital and surgery was recommended. However, the cost is too high for her and she is appealing for help. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $319 to fund Glorious’s surgery. On August 7th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner’s care center. Once recovered, Glorious will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain.
Glorious says, “I hope and pray to be considered for treatment because my condition is worsening and my health is deteriorating. Given treatment, I hope to proceed with farming and be able to continue taking good care of my family.”
