Lyhor is a 13-year-old boy from Cambodia who attends secondary school as an 8th grader. He has one younger brother and one younger sister. Lyhor likes to play football and read books. His family heard about Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC) from a relative. Lyhor traveled for two hours with his mother by taxi to reach CSC for treatment.
Lyhor developed an ear infection in his right ear when he was one year old. He was treated with ear drops, but he still experiences ear discharge, hearing loss, and tinnitus (ringing or buzzing in the ear).
For $423, surgeons at CSC will perform a myringoplasty surgery on his right ear to repair the perforated tympanic membrane and stop the discharge and pain. Over time, Lyhor’s hearing can improve.
Lyhor says, “I am unhappy that I have ear pain and it is difficult to hear at school.”
Lyhor’s mother says, “I hope that after the operation my son’s ear discharge will stop and he will have good hearing and good health.”
