Twaibu is a 23-year-old man from Malawi. He works in a factory where he earns approximately USD 66.25 per month, which he uses for his basic upkeep, and to support his parents. In 2019, Twaibu was diagnosed with an inguinal hernia, a condition that occurs when abdominal tissue protrudes through a weak spot in the lower abdominal muscles, causing a bulge in the groin area. He had first noticed intermittent swelling seven years prior, but because the symptoms were on and off, he did not seek medical attention. Over time, Twaibu has tried to manage the condition using painkillers, until in December last year when his condition deteriorated significantly. He was rushed to hospital where the protruding tissue was manually pushed back in it's position, and Twaibu was advised that he would need to undergo surgery. Twaibu was referred to our medical partner's care center, Partners in Hope Medical Center (PIH), and was scheduled for surgery on May 6th. He is hopeful that surgical intervention will restore his health, enable him to resume his work, and allow him to continue supporting his parents at home. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Twaibu receive treatment. Twaibu is able to contribute towards the cost of his treatment, but needs help raising $575 to fund the surgery. He says: "Kindly help me get better. I have been experiencing terrible symptoms; the frequent swelling episodes have brought so much discomfort in my life."

Reaksmey is a 17-year-old from Kampong Thom Province in Cambodia. He lives with his parents and two younger siblings. His father works as a taxi driver, and his mother works in a garment factory. In his free time, Reaksmey enjoys playing football with his friends in the village. His favorite meal is lemongrass sour soup with eggs. In June 2025, Reaksmey was in a motorbike accident and sustained a right distal femur injury. After the accident, he was treated at a referral hospital and later transferred to a governmental hospital due to having multiple fractures in his right leg. There, he underwent surgery to receive hardware to fix the fracture. However, since that procedure, the hardware in his right femur has become exposed and is infected. Reaksmey experiences pain, stiffness, and difficulty walking long distances, which affects his mobility and daily activities. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On May 12th, Reaksmey will undergo a hardware removal procedure to control the infection, support bone healing, and improve his ability to walk. Reaksmey's family contributed $100 to his care and needs assistance raising $278 to fund the remaining cost of his procedure. Reaksmey's mother said, "I pray for my son's healing every day. I hope this treatment will remove the infection and help him walk without difficulty again."

Martha is 46 years old and a mother of four from Ethiopia. Martha and her family are refugees who have been granted asylum by the Government of Kenya. Martha’s husband recounts how he narrowly escaped death and walked long distances to reach the border. Although he holds a master’s degree, securing formal employment has been extremely difficult. Currently, he earns a living through small-scale hawking within the neighborhood, while Martha works informally as a cook at a roadside kiosk. Six years ago, Martha began to experience troubling symptoms, including a small swelling on her neck that gradually continued to grow. Initially, it was painless, but over time she began experiencing headaches, eye pain, and sensations such as a rapid heartbeat. She sought medical care at a hospital, where tests were conducted, but she was informed that the results were inconclusive. She was diagnosed with multinodular goiter. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Martha receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on February 24th. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $633, and she and her family need help raising money. “We are refugees with no family members who can support us. We are praying for help so that I can undergo surgery, return to my normal life, and continue supporting my family,” said Martha.
