Sak is a two-year-old toddler from Cambodia. He lives with his parents and two older sisters, 11 years old and 6 years old, in Kandal Province. His mother is a housewife, and his father works as a carpenter. His mother shared that Sak loves drinking milk and enjoys running around the house with his friends.
In June 2024, Sak fell from a tractor, resulting in a fracture of his left elbow. He was taken to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery. Unfortunately, he developed an infection after the surgery, causing a festering open wound, and ongoing pain. He now has infected dead bone as a result of the osteomyelitis.
When Sak’s family learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, they traveled for one hour seeking treatment. On February 4th, surgeons at CSC will perform a debridement procedure to removal of the infected bone and reduce the risk of chronic infection. Sak’s family are able to contribute $100 towards the cost of his treatment and need help raising $224 more to fund the procedure.
Sak’s mother said: “I hope that soon, Sak will no longer have an infection and will be able to use his hand easily.”
