James is 75 years old and is retired from working for the government agricultural service. He is still active, however, farming six acres of land planted with coffee. He and his wife, Alice, have been married 48 years and have eight grown children and over twenty grandchildren! Five of their grandchildren live with them, and James and Alice are putting them through school.
In his spare time, James enjoys reading newspapers and listening to the radio. He also enjoys playing with his grandchildren and telling them stories about early life in the village. Alice is a church warden, and they are active members of their church.
Recently, after a rainstorm, James fell while walking on slippery ground and broke his left hand. He will need to have his fracture set, but he does not have enough savings to pay for the treatment.
On February 20, James will be fitted with a cast to align his fractured wrist. He subsidized $3 of his treatment cost. Our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, is requesting an additional $133. After his hand is healed, James is looking forward to taking care of his coffee plants again.
“There are not enough good words to express my gratitude,” shares James.
