Kimlong is five years old and a kindergarten student from Cambodia. He lives on the outskirts of Phnom Penh with his parents and two older siblings. His father is a truck driver, and his mother sells groceries. He is the youngest child in the family. He enjoys writing and reading Khmer. In his free time, he likes playing hide-and-seek with his friends.
For the past five months, Kimlong has been experiencing difficulty swallowing, recurrent sore throat, nightly snoring, and episodes of difficulty breathing. His condition makes it difficult for him to eat, sleep comfortably, and breathe properly. It also affects his overall well-being and daily activities. Kimlong was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils and adenoids, which, if not treated, will cause his symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time.
Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $345 to fund a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy for Kimlong, which is scheduled to take place on March 17th. Surgeons will remove his tonsils and adenoids, hopefully relieving Kimlong of his symptoms and helping him live much more comfortably.
Kimlong’s mother said, “I hope the treatment will help him recover so he can sleep well, eat comfortably, and live a healthy life again.”
