63-year-old Savoeun is married with two daughters and four grandchildren. She is a rice farmer in Cambodia, and she spends her free time planting sugarcane around her home. She also enjoys visiting the pagoda to listen to the monks pray.
Savoeun traveled four hours to reach our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), after her nephew told her about their services.
“Savoeun developed entropion in her right eye 6 months ago,” CSC says. “This causes her eyelid to turn inward so her eyelashes and skin scratch the surface of her eye. This causes her pain, tearing, and irritation.”
Savoeun needs an ectropion repair to heal her condition. The surgery will cost $290, and afterwards, she will no longer experience burning, tearing, or difficulty opening and closing her eye.
Savoeun’s nephew, who traveled to CSC with her, told her doctor: “I hope my aunt is fine again, and she can easily open her eyelid after surgery. I won’t have to worry about her eye having a problem anymore.”
