Srey Nich is a seven-year-old schoolgirl from Cambodia. She lives in Kandal Province with her mother and elderly grandmother. Her grandmother and mother earn a living by selling fish caught by her grandfather. She is the only child in her family, and her parents divorced when she was a baby. She is currently in Grade 2, enjoys mathematics, and hopes to become a teacher in the future. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her friends in the village. For the past two months, Srey Nich has been experiencing recurrent right ear pain, blocked hearing, ringing in the ear (tinnitus), persistent runny nose, and nasal congestion. Hearing tests showed moderate to severe conductive hearing loss in her right ear due to chronic fluid behind the eardrum (glue ear). The condition affects her ability to hear clearly, which may make communication and learning at school more difficult. Repeated ear pain and hearing problems can affect her comfort, concentration, and daily activities. Srey Nich was recently diagnosed with enlarged adenoids, which, if not treated, will cause her symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $345 to fund an adenoidectomy and grommet insertion for Srey Nich, which is scheduled to take place on July 16th. The procedure will relieve her of her symptoms and allow her to hear better, improving her quality of life. Srey Nich's grandmother said, “I hope this surgery will help my granddaughter hear clearly again and stop the ear pain that has bothered her for so long. I want her to be healthy, enjoy school, and grow up without these repeated ear problems.”

Srey Nich is a 22-year-old mother of two from Cambodia. She is married and lives in Siem Reap Province with her husband, who works at a rice mill. They have two children; her first child attends kindergarten, and her youngest child is two years old. In her free time, she takes care of household chores and enjoys listening to music. On the 20th of February 2025, Srey Nich was involved in a motorcycle traffic accident that caused a right femur fracture and an open fracture of her right tibia. After the accident, doctors repaired her right femur with a metal plate and screws. Her right tibia was initially stabilized with an external fixator, which was later replaced with a metal plate and screws. She also received a skin graft to help treat the wound on her right tibia. Although her femur and tibia fractures have healed, she developed a chronic infection around the hardware in her right tibia. She has persistent pus discharge from the wound on the inner side of her right lower leg and a fixed ankle deformity that keeps her foot in a pointed position. This affects her ability to walk normally and makes daily activities and caring for her children more difficult. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On August 5th, Srey Nich will undergo a hardware removal procedure, which will help control the infection, support proper healing, and improve her ability to walk and perform daily activities more comfortably. Her family can contribute $50, but needs help raising $328 more to fund her procedure and care. Srey Nich said, “I hope this surgery will heal the infection and improve my leg so I can walk more easily, become more independent, and return to my normal daily activities.”

Chanthy is a 57-year-old mother of four from Cambodia. She has been divorced since 1996 and has four children, all of whom are married and live in nearby villages. She lives with her eldest child, who works as a high school teacher. In her free time, she enjoys planting vegetables and looking after her grandchild. In May 2026, Chanthy sustained a fracture-dislocation of her right hip in a motor vehicle accident. She was a passenger on a motorcycle when it collided with a car, causing her to be thrown from the vehicle and injure her right hip. The injury has caused significant pain and difficulty with movement. She is unable to walk normally and struggles to perform daily activities independently, making her reliant on family members for assistance. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On June 11th, Chanthy will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will realign and stabilize her hip, helping to relieve pain, restore mobility, and improve her ability to walk and perform daily activities independently. She can contribute $100, but needs help raising $500 more to fund her procedure and care. Chanthy stated, “After the surgery, I hope that my pain will be relieved and that I will be able to move and walk again. I hope to regain my independence and return to my normal daily activities.”
