Isidra is a 62-year-old woman from the Philippines. She regularly wakes up at 4:00 in the morning to prepare her rice cakes and other native delicacies. She has been making and selling rice cakes for the past 36 years. This small business was the main source of income for her family of ten, alongside her husband’s earnings from working as a farmer, planting crops, and raising livestock.
Two years ago, Isidra complained of her persistent pain, which prompted her to consult with a doctor. She was diagnosed with gallstones and needs surgery to address her symptoms. Her condition has greatly affected her daily life and her business. She shared that she now limits the quantity that she can produce because of the persistent pain she is feeling.
Fortunately, our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines, can help. On January 28th, Isidra will undergo gallbladder removal surgery to address her symptoms and allow her to live more comfortably. She needs help to raise $1,325 to fund her procedure and care.
Isidra shared, “I hope to work again after the operation. Thank you so much to all of you who will help me get through this. It has been a great burden for me that I cannot afford the operation. But now, you are here, and I hope you will be more blessed for your generosity.”
