Meet Seng, a 71-year-old mother of eight and grandmother of 10 from Cambodia. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, tells us, “Seng’s vision has been blurred for the past seven years because of the mature cataracts in her eyes. She has a hard time looking after and cooking for her family, and work on the rice farm is difficult.” Seng also misses being able to watch her favorite Thai and Indian shows on TV.
For $150, Seng can have cataract surgery on her right eye which will prevent blindness and make her eligible for a possible second surgery on her left eye.

Seng received treatment to restore her vision.
Seng’s surgery was a success! Her doctor at Children’s Surgical Centre writes, “The patient can see clearly again out of her right eye and is a candidate for surgery on her left eye next week. However, it is already easier for her to get around by herself and she feels more confident. Seng is so happy to be able to see something clearly for the first time in months. She is looking forward to spending more time with her grandchildren.”
