Koeun is a rice farmer from Cambodia. She has two sons. She likes to spend time with her family.
In infancy, Koeun had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in both ears to perforate. For this reason, Koeun experiences ear discharge, tinnitus, and hearing loss. She cannot hear clearly, and the ear discharge causes discomfort.
Koeun traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On June 6, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in both ears. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care.
“I worry that my wife’s hearing keeps getting worse. I hope the surgery will fix this issue,” says her husband.
