Koub is a 75-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. He has two daughters, two sons, and five grandchildren. He lives with his wife and youngest daughter. He likes to listen to the monks praying and follows the news on the radio. His most beloved hobby is taking care of his vegetable garden outside his house.
Six months ago, Koub developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him blurred vision and recurrent pain. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Koub learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for eight hours by taxi to seek treatment. On July 2nd, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovering, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs your help to fund this procedure which costs $229.
Koub shared, “With this problem, I can’t take care of myself or teach my grandchild about farming. I want to be able to do this well and see them grow up.”
His son also told Watsi, “I hope that my dad can see everything well again, and that he can still work hard in his rice field.”
