During one of Kenya’s colorful festivals last year, Timothy and a couple of his friends were preparing to cross the road when a careless driver veered off the road and hit him.
Timothy’s leg, lower, and upper jaw were fractured. The driver who hit him covered most of his medical care at the time, but Timothy’s jaw is still misaligned to the point where he cannot chew food without excruciating pain. He is currently out of school because his jaw so sensitive that any physical pressure exerted causes excessive pain. He is losing weight fast, and is at risk of becoming malnourished due to challenges chewing food. He told Watsi’s coordinator at AMHF that he misses friends and wants to go back to school.
Timothy needs surgery to realign his jaw. For $1125, African Mission Healthcare Foundation can provide Timothy with surgery that they, “expect will enable Timothy to eat without pain, regain weight, and go back to school.”
Timothy lives with his mother, Susan, and his three siblings. Susan left her husband eight years ago when he started selling illicit brews, a trade that is illegal in Kenya, instead of making an honest living. She is now raising Timothy and his siblings a single mother. She relies on her gift as a musician to make a living, but she barely makes enough to put food on the table. Let’s help her get Timothy taken care of!
