Mary is a 56-year-old farmer from Kenya. She lives with her husband on their ancestral land in a three-roomed house. Their six children have left home and live with their own families.
About three years ago, Mary felt a lump on her right breast. She has since been diagnosed with breast cancer. Mary has visited multiple hospitals in search of treatment with no success. Eventually, she was referred to our medical partner’s care center, where a mastectomy has been recommended.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $816 to fund the procedure, scheduled for February 28. This surgery will prevent the cancer from spreading to other organs in her body.
Mary says, “I want to be well with few health issues at my age. It’s my prayer to God.”
