Chu is a 44-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her sister and niece in Mae Sot District, Tak Province, Thailand. She left her home in Yangon Region, Burma, to escape violence after a military coup in 2021. Chu and her sister work at a church in Mae Sot, where they cook and clean for daily events and handle behind-the-scenes tasks for weddings, funerals, and parties. They rely on donations from the church and have no formal salary. The income she receives is enough to cover basic expenses for the family, including food and healthcare. In her free time, she loves to cook and bake desserts. After surgery, she wants to continue to make snacks and potentially start a business selling them on her own. Since 2023, Chu has been experiencing troubling symptoms, including right lower back pain and right lower abdomen pain. The pain worsens when Chu stands or sits for long periods of time. Her symptoms are exacerbated at work, but she continues her duties, taking oral painkillers to manage the pain. Doctors plan to perform a ureteroscopy, a procedure used to diagnose and treat kidney stones or ureteral blockages by passing a small, fiberoptic scope through the urethra and bladder into the ureter. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 for this procedure. The treatment is scheduled to take place on April 10th. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully alleviate her symptoms. Chu said, "I had nowhere else to look for money. After your organisation agreed to help me, I felt relieved. I have fled from my home and left my family to come here. However, I feel warm and supported by my church with basic needs. Thank you for helping me.”

Ran is a 35-year-old construction worker from Cambodia. He lives in Kampong Speu Province with his wife, who works in a garment factory. They have two children: one studying in Grade 3 and a 11-month-old baby. He helps support the family through construction work and enjoys planting vegetables around his home during his free time. On the 4th of May 2026, Ran was involved in a motorcycle-versus-car accident, which resulted in a right knee injury. Following the accident, he initially sought traditional treatment, but his symptoms persisted and worsened over time. He experiences persistent pain and stiffness in his right knee, making it difficult to walk comfortably. The condition limits his mobility and affects his ability to perform heavy physical work and daily activities. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On May 25th, Ran will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will help reduce pain and stiffness in the knee, improve joint function, and restore mobility so he can walk more comfortably and return to work and daily life. Ran can contribute $100, but needs help raising $500 more to fund his treatment and care. Ran said, “After the surgery, I hope that the pain will improve with treatment. I am hopeful that with proper care, I will be able to walk comfortably again and return to my daily activities.”

Jordan is a six-day-old baby boy. He is the youngest child in a family of three children. His parents are pastoralists, raising livestock. Jordan was born with clubfoot on both feet. A condition that causes both feet to turn inward. If left untreated, this condition could make it difficult for him to walk comfortably, participate in daily activities, and wear shoes as he grows. It could also limit his ability to attend school and engage fully with other children in his community. Fortunately, Jordan has the opportunity to receive treatment, which involves a series of gentle manipulations and casts to gradually correct the position of his feet. This will be followed by a tenotomy procedure to achieve the best possible correction and the use of a Foot Abduction Brace (FAB) until the age of five to maintain the correction. Surgeons will begin clubfoot treatment on June 19th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $341 to fund Jordan's clubfoot repair. With this early intervention, Jordan will hopefully grow up to be an active, happy, and healthy child. Jordans mother says, "I want Jordan to be able to play football with his friends when he grows up and show them that he can do anything they can do."
