“I am so much worried about the condition of my son,” shares Joshua’s mother. “I would like to ask for your help so that he would be treated with his condition. Whenever this would happen, we will no longer worry.”
Joshua is an active, inquisitive three-year-old boy from the Philippines. Although he loves to play, his ability to run and jump is limited by an inguinal hernia on his lower left abdomen.
An inguinal hernia is a bulge of soft tissue that protrudes through a weak part of the abdominal wall into the groin region. Joshua has had an enlarging scrotum since he was 4 months old, and daily activities such as walking or even just having a full stomach exacerbate the enlargement.
Even with government insurance, the out of pocket costs for an inguinal hernia repair is still much greater than what Joshua’s family can afford. $465 will help Joshua receive surgery that closes the defect in his abdominal wall.
Our medical partner, International Care Ministries, expects that after the surgery Joshua “will be able to do his activities of daily living without any hassles and will be free from the possible complication the condition might bring him.”
