Kanjeru is a 67-year-old farmer. She is a mother of two children, and currently lives with her 38-year-old son. Her son is married and also works as a small scale farmer. Kanjeru’s husband passed away twenty years ago. During her free time, she enjoys taking care of her fields.
Three years ago, Kanjeru began to experience troubling symptoms, including airway blockage when she breathes normally. Upon seeking care, she was diagnosed with a goitre. Now, Kanjeru needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Kanjeru receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on February 10th at our medical partner’s care center. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $293, and Kanjeru and her family need your support.
Kanjeru shared, “I solely depend on farming and would resume farming as soon as I get better.”
