Musab is a brave seven-year-old boy from Ethiopia who loves playing football with his friends. Since losing his dad six months ago, he has been living with his grandpa, along with his mom and two siblings. Their grandpa, a hardworking farmer, also supports six other children and two wives. While his harvest generally provides enough food for the family, they struggle to save for medical expenses. Musab has right inguinal hernia, a condition in which soft tissue bulges through a weak point in the abdominal muscles. Symptoms include pain and discomfort, a heavy sensation, irritability and reduced appetite. His grandpa noticed a bulge and took Musab to a health center. The doctors referred him to a hospital in Addis Ababa, but he could not afford the transportation and other costs. The family spent nine months searching for an organization that could support them. A month ago, they met an organization called 'Missionaries of Charity', who covered the transportation and accommodation costs and brought them to our medical partner care center Bethany Kids. However, they still cannot afford the recommended surgery for Musab. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare is helping Musab receive treatment. On September 3rd, he will undergo hernia repair surgery to relieve his symptoms and help him get back to good health. Now, Musab's family needs help to fund this $512 procedure. Musab's grandpa says: “I hope he will get the surgery and heal. I trust that Allah will make it happen.”
