Chanthoeun is a 40-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She lives with six family members, including her 90-year-old grandmother, husband, two children, and an older brother. Her husband is a police officer, and her older brother is a rice farmer. Her two daughters attend a nearby high school. At home, Chanthoeun enjoys spending time with her children and helping them with their homework. In June 2023, Chanthoeun was in a road traffic accident and sustained multiple fractures to her left arm. Following the accident, she underwent surgery where doctors implanted hardware to repair the fractures. Now, the hardware is causing her pain and restricts the movement of her left wrist. She needs to have the hardware removed. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On July 26th, Chanthoeun will undergo a hardware removal procedure that will improve overall function and reduce the pain in her forearm. Chanthoeun is able to contribute $100 but needs $204 more to fund the procedure. Chanthoeun hopes to be able to lift and move her forearm easily when she returns home, which will make it easier to work and take care of her family at home.

Jarelle Krystoffer, or JK, is five years old, and the only child of his parents. JK's father works as a houseboy, while his mother stays home to take care of JK. Two days after his birth, JK was rushed to a nearby hospital because he couldn't defecate. He was diagnosed with an imperforated anus, a condition where his rectum and anus are either malformed or completely absent. Surgery is the only solution. Currently, JK is living with a temporary colostomy, but with the help of our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines, JK will undergo a pull-through procedure on July 27th, at Our Lady of Peace Hospital. The prognosis for JK is bright, once he has recovered from surgery. JK's parents need your help to raise $488 for JK's procedure. JK's parents said: "This free surgery will be a big help for our family. Once the surgery becomes successful, JK will be able to live normally and it will lessen our monthly expenses which will allow us to save for his future. We are very grateful and blessed that we qualified for this support. Thank you very much."

Sok Horng is a 24-year-old woman who lives with her parents and her husband. Her parents are rice farmers and her husband works in a retail shop. At home, Sok Horng enjoys trying new recipes and listening to music. On August 25th, 2024, Sok Horng was in a motorcycle accident that resulted in a fracture of her right ring finger and a laceration of her upper lip. She was treated at a public hospital in Phnom Penh, where surgery was performed on her lip. Sok Horng came to our medical partner, Children Surgical Center (CSC), because she could not afford another surgery for her finger. Currently, she experiences swelling and intense pain, and is worried that it will make it difficult for her to work. On August 26th, Sok Horng will undergo a closed reduction and cast application surgery on her finger to ensure that the bones heal correctly, and reduce the risk of complications, allowing her to use her finger for work again. Sok Horng is able to contribute $50 but needs help to raise $435 more to fund the procedure. Sok Horng said, "I want to return to work soon and be able to help take care of my parents at home."
