Kim is a 54-year-old farmer. She is married and has one son and two daughters. In her free time, Kim likes to work around the house and cook desserts to sell in front of her home.
Kim has developed a baker’s cyst, a type of fluid-filled growth behind her left knee. This type of swelling can cause stiffness and knee pain and, as in Kim’s case, often requires surgical removal.
Kim and her son traveled for five hours to reach our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, for treatment. CSC is requesting $220 to fund the removal of the cyst. The procedure is scheduled to take place on June 30 and, once completed, will hopefully allow Kim to live more comfortably.

Kim underwent the removal of a cyst.
Kim’s treatment for her left knee went well. Following the procedure, she was given pain medication and she had one week of physiotherapy at CSC before being discharged. Kim is now able to walk more easily than before and she does not experience any pain.
Kim says, “Thanks to CSC and all of the donors for helping me. Now I can walk better. I don’t have pain.”
