Moe is a 15-year-old boy from Burma. He lives with his parents, sister, and two brothers. His father works as a day labourer, while his mother is a homemaker who sometimes takes on laundry jobs to help support the family. Moe completed grade three but had to stop his education in 2024 because of his health. He was diagnosed with a heart condition that requires valve replacement. Heart valves control the flow of blood between chambers, but certain conditions may narrow the heart valve or cause the blood to flow backwards. Normal valve function is necessary to prevent long-term damage to the heart and lungs. Currently, Moe experiences fatigue, loss of appetite, dizziness, and sometimes feels uncomfortable while sleeping at night due to squeezing and radiating pain around his chest and back. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to fund a heart valve replacement for Moe. The treatment is scheduled to take place on July 17th at our medical partner's care center, Kasemrad Prachachuen Hospital, and once completed, will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably. Moe's mother shared, "Thank you to the donors and the organisation for supporting my son’s surgery. We are very grateful. As day labourers, we do not have enough money. I am not healthy enough, and while doing laundry to earn extra income, I feel exhausted. Without your support, we would face unbearable financial burdens and could not afford the surgery. Sim is a 24-year-old vegetable seller from Kandal Province, Cambodia. He is single and the third of five siblings, with two sisters and two brothers. He lives with his parents, who are also vegetable sellers. In his free time, he enjoys playing football. About two months ago, Sim developed a chalazion in his right eye — a small inflamed cyst in the eyelid — causing itchiness, irritation, and swelling that has made it difficult for him to see clearly and work. Sim traveled three hours to seek treatment from our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre. On April 20th, surgeons will remove the cyst through a chalazion excision procedure. After recovery, Sim's symptoms should improve. Sim can contribute $25, but needs help raising $238 more to fund his procedure and care. Sim said, "I hope after surgery my eye lid stop swelling and I don’t worry about it anymore. I feel happy and would like to go back to selling vegetables well."

Helen is an eight-year-old girl from Colombia. She is currently in the 3rd grade, and enjoys participating in school activities, and reading stories. Helen dreams of becoming a doctor one day. Helen has an inguinal hernia, a condition that occurs when abdominal tissue protrudes through a weak spot in the lower abdominal muscles. The condition makes it painful for her to play, and limits activities that require physical strength. She sometimes experiences discomfort or tenderness in the affected area. Fortunately, on April 16th, our medical partner, Clínica Noel, will perform Helen's hernia repair surgery to help her live a healthier life. Helen's family is unable to raise the required treatment costs, and are seeking support to raise $786 to fund her surgery and care.
