Jowarren is 32 years old and a fisherman from Romblon, Philippines. He lives with his father and stepmother along the coast. Jowarren’s daily life revolves around the sea, where he and his father set out to fish from 7:00 in the morning until 4:00 in the afternoon, while his stepmother sells all the fish that they catch. This has been the family’s source of income and was used for their daily food expenses and their parents’ medication.
Ten years ago, Jowarren felt pain around a sensitive area of his body. It was more noticeable whenever he lifted heavy objects, especially when he carried his small boat out of the ocean to park it at the shore. Since his family cannot afford treatment, he just endured it.
Fortunately, our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines, can help. On January 28th, Jowarren will undergo hernia repair surgery to address his symptoms and allow him to live more comfortably. He needs help to raise $1,121 to fund his procedure and care.
Jowarren hopes to go back to fishing without the pain that’s been burdening him.
He shared, “Thank you so much for the free operation. I hope you get to help more people in need like me.”
