Aung is a seven-year-old boy who lives in Thailand and loves going to school and playing with his friends. Unfortunately, Aung has not been able to do either of his favorite activities since a painful tumor behind his right eye was diagnosed as cancer.
Aung had been experiencing severe headaches and fevers accompanied by vomiting and sensitive vision when his mother brought him to a health clinic in Burma. Aung’s mother had to sell her farm and borrow money to bring Aung to a health clinic. Since that time, she has gone into debt in order to pay for antibiotics and eye drops to ease Aung’s pain but she cannot afford the cost of more comprehensive treatments.
For $1500, Aung will undergo chemotherapy to eradicate his cancer. This treatment will dramatically improve Aung’s quality of life and ease his pain. With this treatment, Aung will be able to return to enjoying life as a seven-year-old, attending school and playing with friends.
