Both is a five-year-old kindergarten student from Cambodia. He lives with his mother, a clothes vendor, and his father, who works as a driver. Both enjoys playing with his friends at school and hopes to become a teacher. At home, he likes watching cartoons and eating Cambodian noodle soup.
On July 27th, 2024, Both was in a motorcycle accident while riding with his father, which resulted in an open fracture in his right middle finger. He was sent to a nearby hospital, where surgeons placed a metal pin to align the bones in the finger. The fracture has healed, but the metalwork within his finger is causing him discomfort and making it difficult for him to study at school. His family cannot afford the cost of removing the surgical hardware.
Fortunately, our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, can help. On August 29th, Both will undergo a hardware removal surgery which will help relieve his discomfort and make it easier for him to write while at school. His family is able to contribute $25 towards the cost of his treatment and need help raising $279 more to fund the procedure.
Both’s mother says, “I look forward to see my son play, write and draw like he did before the accident.”
