16-year-old Chhorn has been working on his family’s farm in Cambodia since the seventh grade. Chhorn has two brothers and one sister and enjoys playing football and helping his parents around the home.
Four years ago, Chhorn developed a keloid on his left ear. A keloid is a raised scar after an injury has healed. It has grown over time and causes itchiness and discomfort. Sometimes it is painful and prevents him from farming.
Chhorn and his brother traveled for 30 minutes to reach Watsi’s medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), for treatment, which costs $99. Surgeons at CSC will perform an excision to remove the keloid from his left ear.
“I hope the itchiness stops and my ear can be good looking,” shares Chhorn.
