Yee is a 59-year-old mother of two from Thailand. She lives with her family and is retired due to her health condition. Her husband works as a day laborer, and her two sons work at a restaurant. In her free time, Yee enjoys meditation and listening to religious sermons. In October 2023, Yee began experiencing pain, difficulty urinating, and producing only small amounts of urine. Additionally, she feels swelling and pain in her back, which has forced her to stop working. She has been diagnosed with kidney stones, which are hard deposits of minerals that form in the kidneys and are often very painful to pass. She has been advised to undergo surgery to remove her kidney stones. If left untreated, Yee's symptoms will continue to worsen and will put her at risk for further health complications in the future. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF), requests $1,500 to fund Yee's kidney stone removal surgery. The procedure is scheduled to take place on September 17th. Yee said, "I wish I could have the kidney stone surgery, but I don't have the money to cover the cost. But now, I have found that Watsi and BCMF can help me. I am very grateful and will pray for Watsi donors to remain healthy and help more patients."

Adeleicar is an 18-month-old girl who lives with her mother in Haiti. Adeleicar has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition in which excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain, and increases intracranial pressure. As a result of her condition, the circumference of Adeleicar's head has been increasing. Without treatment, she will experience severe physical and developmental delays. Our medical partner, Project Medishare, is requesting $897 to cover the cost of surgery for Adeleicar at Hospital Bernard Mevs, the only facility in the country where this care is currently available. The procedure, during which excess fluid will be drained from Adeleicar's brain, is scheduled to take place on June 7th. With the reduction in her intracranial pressure, Adeleicar's quality of life will improve, and she will have the chance to develop into a strong, healthy young girl. Adeleicar's mother is looking forward to her daughter being able to walk and talk, and to live a long and healthy life.

Meet Huoy, a 24-year-old man from Cambodia. He lives with his wife, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law in Pursat province. His wife is six months pregnant with their first child and stays home to help manage the household. In his free time, Huoy enjoys watching sports on TV with his friends at the village coffee shop. On July 26, 2024, Huoy was in a motorcycle accident, where he was hit from behind by a speeding car, falling hard on his right shoulder. He sustained multiple injuries including paralysis of his right arm due to nerve injuries. He sought treatment from a local clinic near his house but is unable to use his arm and hand. He has been diagnosed with a brachial plexus injury on his right side. The brachial plexus is a nerve network that transmits signals from the spine to the shoulder, arm, and hand. Injuries to this nerve network can result in loss of function and sensation. Huoy used to work as a cashier but has been unable to work since the traffic accident, and his arm is non-functional. He has shoulder pain and weakness in his right hand, and is unable to raise his arm. Huoy is worried he will not be able to support his family, especially after his first child is born. Huoy traveled to our medical partner's care center, Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre, to receive treatment. On September 12th, he will undergo a brachial plexus repair surgery. After recovery, he hopes to use his right arm again to work. Huoy is able to contribute $100 but needs help t raise $609 more to fund his treatment and care. Huoy says, "After this operation, I hope to use my arm again to find a job to help my family and take care of my wife and baby."
