Anyesiga is a 4-year-old girl, the second born in her family, and currently in preschool. Her mother has a diploma in business administration but has not been able to get employment, so is currently a small scale farmer. Her father owns a small retail shop that helps them provide for their family. Their family lives in a three-room home. Their family has 3 young children, the eldest is 7 years old and in the second grade and the youngest is two.
Anyesiga’s mother shared that her daughter’s condition was noticed shortly after birth because the umbilical area would expand in and out whenever she cried. Still two years later, Anyesiga had stomach aches and umbilical pains. At three years, they visited a physician and a scan showed she had a hernia. She had surgery recommended. Their family has had to miss a couple of appointments due to the COVID19 outbreak, but have now made it to our medical partner’s care center Rushoroza Hospital.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $170 to fund Anyesiga’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow her to live more comfortably.
Anyesiga’s mother says, “My daughter is in severe pain and requires treatment. I look forward to taking her back to school after her complete recovery.”
