Srey Touch is from Cambodia and lives with her husband, their 11-year-old child, and her cousins. Her husband is an electrician and her cousins are welders. Srey Touch works as an accountant in a school. In her free time, she likes to cook and check her social media. In November 2023, Srey Touch was in a traffic accident that resulted in damage to her left ulnar nerve, impacting the muscles in her ring and little fingers. She also experiences loss of sensation in her hand and muscle dystrophy between her index finger and thumb on the left hand. These conditions affect her ability to hold heavy objects and cause discomfort while working and performing daily activities. Srey Touch was referred by relatives to our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC). On July 18th, surgeons will perform an ulnar nerve exploration and transposition procedure on her left hand to improve her hand function and overall well-being. Srey Touch is able to contribute $100 but needs help to raise $472 more needed for the surgery and physiotherapy that she requires. Srey Touch hopes to use her hand and fingers more easily, to improve her function at work, and perform daily tasks without discomfort.

Fira is a five-month-old baby girl from Ethiopia, the first child of her parents. She loves to play with her mum and taking baths. Her parents are small-scale farmers, and their income from their harvest covers the family's basic necessities. Fira was born with an anorectal malformation, a congenital condition that can cause a partial or complete intestinal blockage. Soon after her birth, her parents visited a branch of the Missionaries of Charity, where they received guidance and support to reach our medical partner's care center, BethanyKids Myungsung Christian Medical Centre (BKMCM). At the hospital, Fira was reviewed and doctors advised that she would need to undergo a series of procedures to correct the condition. Unfortunately, her parents are finding it hard to pay Fira's medical expenses. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Fira receive treatment. On July 25th, she will undergo surgery to treat her condition and reduce the her risk of developing health complications in the future. Now, Fira's family needs help to fund this $1,500 procedure. Fira's father says, “I hope that my child undergoes successful surgery, and is able to go to school when she grows up, just like any other child"

Gift is a 36-year-old man from Malawi. He maintains a livelihood by farming vegetables such as mustard and tomatoes. He lives with his two children. His wife had left them and moved back to her parents' home. On May 30th, while tending to the livestock, he was pushed by one of the goats as it made its way into the shelter. Gift fell and injured his leg. He was rushed to our medical partner's care center, Nkhoma Hospital, by his sister and brother-in-law and doctors confirmed Gift had fractured his leg. He is in pain and unable to walk. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, can help. On June 4th, Gift will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will cost $636. This procedure will relieve him of the pain and help him walk easily again. Gift says,” I would be very grateful if this surgery takes place. My livelihood depends on my ability to move, and I look forward to doing that again soon.”
